What's new in Wonderware Online InSight

One of the great things about having a cloud-first, mobile-first solution is that updates happen regularly and seamlessly, without the need for you to do anything but sit back and enjoy the latest features. For instance this week we rolled out some new features to Wonderware Online InSight that are going to make accessing and interpreting your data even easier.

What's new in April 2017?

  • Expanded Composite Charting
  • Chart Configuration URL
  • Tag Alerts

Expanded Composite Charting

Providing easy access to relevant industrial information is at the heart of what we do. Being able to visualize your data in a variety of formats makes it much quicker to spot trends and correlations between seemingly unrelated tags. Expanding on the composite charts introduced last month we have now enabled an 'All tags' category which allows you to create charts from different tag types and units of measure. For example, plot a mix of string tags (cloud types, weather description) and discrete tags (temperature, humidity) to get an accurate overview of the weather in Los Angeles over time.

New! Wonderware Online InSight composite charts now support string tags

Imagine how useful this could be in your business! Now on the one chart you can quickly and easily plot production rate, energy usage, machine status, recipe, speed, temperature... the list goes on. Try it for yourself today and see what correlations you can discover hidden in your data: https://online.wonderware.com

Chart Configuration URL

Now that you've created these awesome looking charts you want to share them right? Well with the new chart configuration URL you can now utilize a URL-based query to trigger the creation of your InSight chart in another application such as your company intranet, or web portal. Just remember to make sure you're logged into the Wonderware Online solution and follow the steps in this help file

Tag Alerts

Previously only available in Wonderware SmartGlance, you can now create and configure alerts directly in Wonderware Online InSight. The system will then notify you if any of your alert conditions are met. Simply select the tag, hit 'Set Alert' and then define your alert conditions. Here I have chosen to be notified when humidity in Los Angeles is greater than 85%, I hit save and you can see that almost immediately InSight (and SmartGlance) notify me that this condition has been met. Imagine how useful this is if you have a remote or unmanned site - no more having to drive out to check what's going on - just set and relax, knowing the system will alert you if required.

Configure alerts using the tag series dialog setting

What are you waiting for? Start turning your industrial data into insights today. I'd love to hear how you get on, and as always if you have any feedback or suggestions for future updates why not contact the team at feedback@wonderware.com.

p.s. if you're in Europe in April why not head to Hannover Messe where you can see all of our IIoT solutions in action, including Wonderware Online InSight.
